Referrals


All young people aged 11-20 years who live in Hadleigh or the surrounding areas are eligible to join the project either via on-line registration form or by coming along to one of the drop-in sessions held at St Mary’s Church. Registration includes parental consent.

A wide range of different agencies and organisations also refer young people to the project, including:

  • Police
  • Youth Offending
  • GP’s
  • Health Centre
  • Primary / High schools
  • Locality integrated teams / Team Around the Child (TAC)
  • Social Services

Our staff and volunteers have worked with a wide range of children, young people and families with additional needs including:

  • Children and young people with caring responsibilities
  • Complex and / or chaotic family environments
  • Difficult family relationships- with parents, siblings, parents divorcing, parents re-marrying, blended family environments and bereavement
  • Difficult time at school – unauthorised absences / truancy, underachieving, not keeping up with course work, bullying, being bullied and difficulties with peer friendships
  • Physical, emotional and sexual abuse and self harm
  • Intergenerational unemployment within families causing low aspirations, motivation and unemployment in young people
  • Young parents
  • Youth offending / anti-social behaviour/ anger and violence issues 
  • Drug and alcohol misuse
  • Inappropriate sexual activity
  • Depression and anxiety, low self confidence and esteem
  • Suicidal thoughts / actions

WW1 Battlefield Tour for members of the Porch Project

On August 8th & 9th the Porch Project were fortunate enough to be able to take seven young people to France on a two-day WW1 Battlefield Tour. This was made available to us by Mark Brennan and the Hadleigh Great War Centenary Project, www.hadleighww1.com . What a wonderful opportunity for local young people to witness first-hand the great sacrifice and bravery of their local forefathers.
