Management team

Judith Hermite
Treasurer and Chair of management committee

I was born a Londoner in the East End and later graduated to being an ‘Essex Girl’. Most of my working life has been in the world of Reinsurance where I’ve indulged my love of figures and enjoyed the buzz of working in the City of London.

Looking for some open space we moved to Hadleigh in 2013 and I quickly realised that commuting was no longer for me so decided to join Keith, my other half, in retirement. I now do all those things I used to ‘fit in’ around working.

Always on the lookout for a new challenge I’m now doing the numbers for the Porch Project which gives me a regular figure fix.

Jimmy Wilding
Church Warden St Mary's Hadleigh and member of management committee

In my former years I was in the Forth Royal Tank Regiment of the British Army, but I have spent most of my life in agriculture. I have been married for 52 years to my lovely wife Margaret and we have two children, Kate who works as a nurse practitioner and Nick who is a special needs teacher in Thailand.

I thinks it’s important to open up the church for the Porch Project, as the church is for everybody regardless of age, sex, religion etc. and I regularly volunteer for the project.

Jess Janas
Secretary to trustees and member of management committee

Born in London I have lived in Hadleigh for nearly 30 years. Since 2007 I have worked at Hintlesham Hall leading historical tours, dealing with all HR administration and acting as PA to the General Manager: originally full time, now part time.

I was a Town Councillor on Hadleigh Town Council for Hadleigh North for six years (2009 – 2015), and a member of all its committees. I now help out regularly and happily at St Mary’s church and eight other organisations and charities within Hadleigh which keeps me constantly busy.

My husband Andrew, of Janas Joinery, performs miracles with wood and many other materials. Our home is a testament to his brilliance. What spare time I have is eaten up with gardening, cooking, going to the theatre, travelling, reading and maintaining our home. I also love brain-training games and quizzes.

John Parry-Williams
Deputy Church Warden St Mary's Hadleigh and member of management committee

Born in Widnes, Lancashire, but spent my early life down south! Went to Tanzania, then Tanganyika, on VSO prior to university and caught the bug of the wide open spaces and a different culture. So returned to teach in Uganda, where I married. We left during Amin’s regime and I became a Probation Officer in East Anglia; hankered to get back abroad and did so with Save the Children. Lived and worked abroad employed by SCF in Africa, Central Asia and SE Asia from 1988 to 2003 and then went freelance as an international child protection consultant.

Moved to Hadleigh in 2005 and have been involved as a volunteer with the Porch Project from soon after its inception. Have huge admiration for the concept and the dedication of those who have worked for the project. It has, I believe, been of real benefit to those attending and to the town. I enjoy the interaction with young people.

Love the outside life!

Canon Dr John Parr
Parish Priest, Hadleigh, Layham and Shelley and member of management committee

I grew up in the north of England, and was ordained in Liverpool in 1979. Since then I've had a variety of jobs for the Church of England, and worked in mental health advocacy in Suffolk. I've lived in East Anglia for 30 years, in and around Cambridge at first, and since 1999 in Bury St Edmunds. I came to Hadleigh as parish priest in September 2016.

I am married to Frances, and we have five grown up children and step-children, and four grandchildren. I enjoy the outdoors, all kinds of music (especially live), photography and the cinema.
